The position of Senior Urban Designer, Fishermans Bend Taskforce forms a part of the Precinct Design branch within the Precincts and Suburbs Group.

Fishermans Bend is Australia's largest urban renewal project covering approximately 480 hectares in the heart of Melbourne and connects Melbourne's CBD to the bay. The Fishermans Bend Taskforce works with the Fishermans Bend Development Board, across State Government, councils, landowners, businesses, developers and communities to implement the vision for this priority project. The vision reflects a global benchmark for smart sustainable development and integrated communities where people live, work and play.

Reporting to the Manager, Strategy and Planning this position will provide design advice on planning applications and develop precincts plans for Fishermans Bend.  

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Provision of urban design expertise and architectural advice to support the delivery of the vision and framework for Fishermans Bend
  • Preparation of precinct plans and the Employment precinct plan
  • Provide urban design advice on planning permit applications and pre-applications
  • Contribute to strategic policy and design development

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the planning, design and development sector and hold tertiary qualification in either urban design, urban planning, landscape architecture or architecture. The ability to develop strong professional relationships through effective communication will be required as the position will consult with a range of stakeholders across government and industry to deliver on the vision for Fishermans Bend.
