The position of Planner forms a part of the Precinct Design branch within the newly established Precincts and Suburbs Group.

The Precinct Design branch provides the design capability across the Precincts and Suburbs Group to deliver the government's ambition for priority precincts.  It champions exemplar place outcomes, drives great urban experiences and environments and enables distinctive and thriving places and inclusive communities.  It leverages the expertise and investment of partners and promotes a culture of innovation and adaptability.

Reporting to the Manager, Precinct Design this position will be responsible for providing planning advice on the development of precinct plans and planning controls for priority precincts.

As part of a high performing team, key accountabilities will also include:

  • Provision of technical planning advice regarding the Victorian Planning Provisions and the Planning Environment Act 1987
  • Research, analysis and advice on complex planning issues
  • Contribute to projects, strategic policy and design development

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the planning, design and development sector with experience as an urban or strategic planner in urban renewal projects highly desirable. Well-developed consultation and engagement skills combined with a strong delivery focus will be required to work effectively across a broad range of stakeholders.
