SENIOR MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR - EMERGENCY RECOVERY
- $120,692 - $161,511 (Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed-term, 30 September 2020
- Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: CBD (flexibility may be available)
The Senior Media and Communications Advisor - Emergency Recovery will deliver innovative, high-quality and effective strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement services to support Agriculture Victoria's drought and bushfire response and recovery activities.
The successful applicant will work independently to lead this critical piece of work, while collaborating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across Agriculture Victoria and the Strategic Communications and Marketing branch.
Key accountabilities include:
- Initiate, lead and drive the development and implementation of strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement relating to Agriculture Victoria's drought and bushfire recovery agenda
- Provision of expert communications, engagement and media advice, leadership and strategic direction to senior personnel with the department
- Work collaboratively within key internal stakeholders to ensure communications, media and stakeholder engagement strategies and functions are effectively planned, managed, implemented and evaluated
- Provide communications and media support, management and leadership as part of the department's emergency response and manage the delivery of communications and media requirements for any DJPR related emergencies
The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate –
- strong ability to strategically plan, prioritise and achieve high-standards of performance for strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement activities;
- ability to deal with communications, media and stakeholder engagement concepts and high-level complexity comfortably, and use analytical and conceptual skills to effectively manage reputational risks and issues, solve problems and implement innovative solutions;
- a track record of establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating and coordinating with subject matter experts and communications colleagues while assuming primary accountability for developing and delivering the communications strategy for a significant program of work; and
- commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and seeking ways to improve communications, media and stakeholder engagement services and advice.
A relevant tertiary degree in communications or public relations (or similar) is required.
