Manager, Strategic Projects

  • Salary: $138,631 - $185,518 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing role
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Place Based Strategy, Insights and Coordination, you will provide expert policy and strategic advice, lead and manage key projects as required, contribute to the positive culture and engagement across the Group, and demonstrate leadership across the Place Based Strategy, Insights and Coordination branch (PBSIC).

The responsibilities of the Manager, Strategic Projects will include:

  • Providing timely expert policy and strategic advice to the Executive Director, PBSIC, RDV, and the Chief Executive on a range of issues relevant to the Regional Development portfolio in collaboration with the RDV executive team
  • Leading the preparation and/or review of concise and compelling, presentations, reports, briefs and submissions on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Proactively initiating, maintaining, and managing strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

The Team

The position of Manager, Strategic Projects forms a part of the Place Based Strategy, Insights and Coordination branch within the Regional Development Victoria group.

RDV works with businesses, communities and across government to deliver economic growth, create jobs, build resilience, and support economic recovery in our regions. The Place Based Strategy, Insights and Coordination branch plays a key role in leading place-based policy and insights both within DJSIR and across the VPS.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Policy Skills: Formulates and communicates public policy options and recommendations; keeps up to date with a broad range of contemporary issues; scans for links and potential implications of proposed policy options; liaises with stakeholders; Understands issues and pressures to which the organisation has to respond.
  • Written and Verbal Communication: Prepares complex briefs, letters, submissions, emails, and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; ensures appropriate style and formats are used.
  • Systems Thinking: Diagnoses trends, obstacles, and opportunities in the internal and external environment; understands the linkages between natural systems and communities to inform policy; conceptualises and defines the systems working within the organisation; Can derive meaningful insights from data
