Position Details

Senior Transport Planner

The Policy and Reform Division leads the strategic transport policy, analysis, reforms, network planning and direction setting for the state's current and future transport system, shaping transport's role in enabling broader economic, social, liveability and sustainability outcomes for Victorians.

The Senior Transport Planner will support the department's regional transport planning team's role in shaping the future transport system to deliver a prosperous, connected and liveable Victoria.  The role will work collaboratively across the transport portfolio, other government departments and agencies (e.g. Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, VLine, VicTrack), Regional Partnerships and local government to advance integrated land use and transport planning in regional Victoria.

In this role you will be required to engage with regional industries, portfolio agencies, government agencies, local government, local communities, freight and logistics companies and other transport and industry stakeholders to ensure successful integrated transport planning occurs and transport issues are effectively managed. You will also be required to work closely within the Department, other portfolio agencies, government agencies, local government and regional leadership groups to integrate transport considerations into land use, strategic planning and economic development activities.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in strategic transport planning and an applied understanding of transport's impact on the economy (highly desired). This role will require you to hold a current driver's licence and work shift hours that will involve evening or weekend work and travel within regional Victoria.
