The position of Senior Project Officer – Maritime Technical Services  forms a part of the Maritime Safety  Branch within TSV.

TSV is Victoria's integrated safety regulator for bus, maritime & rail transport.  It is headed by the Director, Transport Safety whose statutory  object is to independently seek the highest transport safety standards consistent with the transport system's vision & objectives under the Transport Integration Act 2010.

Reporting to the Manager Maritime Technical Services, the Senior Project Officer – Maritime Technical Services manages and conducts high quality and timely maritime technical analysis, advice and reporting that contributes to improved maritime safety outcomes. This position includes conducting inquiries into marine safety matters, the preparation of technical input into coronial briefs, promulgating recreational vessel standards and related safety equipment standards, and for ensuring compliance with the Australian builder's plate requirements by relevant duty holders.

This role is required to work cooperatively across all branches within Transport Safety Victoria (TSV), with key branches in the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources and with external agencies such as commercial and local Ports across Victoria, Victoria Police and the State Coroner.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in undertaking investigations in a regulatory environment  and demonstrated expertise in conducting compliance inspections and audits in a highly regulated environment and to a high standard. You should also have proven experience in using risk-focussed operational safety management programs.
