The Game Management Authority (GMA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation of game hunting in Victoria. It delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible hunting in Victoria.

The GMA is responsible for:

• issuing Game Licences and related testing;

• managing open and closed seasons for game species;

• enforcing game hunting laws and taking action against those who do not hunt legally; and

• educating and informing hunters on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria.

Position Details

Compliance Team Leader (2 positions available) Eastern & Western

  • $96,942 - $117,293 plus superannuation
  • Ongoing   
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work locations: Eastern (Traralgon/ Benalla) and Western (Bendigo/ Ballarat)

The positions of Compliance Team Leaders form a part of the Game Management Authority.

The Game Management Authority delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible hunting in Victoria.

The GMA is responsible for:

  • issuing Game Licenses and related testing;
  • managing open and closed seasons for the hunting of game species;
  • enforcing game hunting laws and taking appropriate action against those who do not hunt legally; and
  • educating and informing industry on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria.

 

The Compliance Team Leaders manage the operational delivery of high-quality community-centred game regulatory services within a state segment (Eastern/ Western Victoria), whilst also contributing to state-wide service delivery. The Team Leaders are responsible for ensuring that appropriate enforcement, education and other compliance strategies are developed and implemented in accordance with state-wide strategic objectives and priorities, to maximise industry compliance.

The Team Leaders build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including government and community groups, and develop and supervise team work programs to ensure highly effective and timely service delivery across the regional segment.  The Team Leaders are responsible for small regionally based teams who work collaboratively within the regional segment and contribute actively to programs and projects across the broader organisation.

Mandatory requirements of this position are:

  • Authorised Officer Basic (Legal 1) qualification or equivalent
  • A current Victorian Driver's Licence

The successful applicant will have experience in managing regional teams remotely, excellent communication skills, develop and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, and be a well organised person with attention to detail.
