Position Details

Project Officer, Active Recreation

  • Salary: $100,894 - $114,476 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term role: until 30 June 2027
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Project Officer coordinates the delivery of active recreation grant programs that encourage Victorians to participate in physical activity and support the aquatic sector workforce. The position ensures progress of funded projects such as the Kids Active Travel Program and VICSWIM, and maintains effective relationships with stakeholders, providing advice to support successful delivery of funded programs and achievement of program outcomes.

Main accountabilities:

  • Reviewing funded project progress against agreed work plans and reporting obligations, processing milestones and payments, completing acquittals, and generating reports while ensuring that appropriate policies and processes are applied to the programs.
  • Supporting stakeholders with relevant information and data to deliver programs successfully and identifying problems and working with stakeholders to establish workable solutions that achieve program outcomes.
  • Assisting in the drafting and presentation of reports and ministerial briefs.

The Team

The position of Project Officer, Active Recreation forms a part of the Community Sport and Recreation branch within the Sport and Experience Economy group.

Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism, events and outdoor recreation – sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage and deliver significant economic, social and health benefits for the state.  

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Grants management: previous experience delivering and monitoring grants programs is required, including experience using Salesforce to process milestones and payments, acquit programs and create reports.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: takes steps to add value for the client or stakeholder. Ensures stakeholders are kept informed of work status and key issues, monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Project Management: produces detailed project plans with actions, dates and potential risks clearly specified. Monitors progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required.
