About MRPV

Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) was established to deliver a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widenings, new bridges and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to completion connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.

The Role

The Head of Media & Digital will be responsible for developing, and implementing digital, audio visual and media strategies to support the delivery of MRPV's projects. As leader of the media and digital units the role will provide support and lead a team of media and digital professionals.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Develop and implement overarching media and digital communication strategies for MRPV
  • Oversee the digital asset management for MRPV.
  • Manage and provide strategic advice and guidance on media relations, digital strategy and content, issues and risk management strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with all project teams in the delivery of their own coordinated and customised campaigns including production and implementation.
  • Manage the development and consistent implementation of MRPV digital and social media content and campaigns across all projects. 
  • Oversee the creation of innovative and informative content including media releases, articles, speeches, publications, presentations, video, web content, advertising and other communications material.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Government and transport stakeholders, including the office of the Minister for Transport Infrastructure, MTIA, Department of Transport and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to MRPV media and digital communications activities.

This is a 3 year, fixed term position

About you

Ideally, you will have:

  • A bachelor (or higher) qualification in Communications, Journalism or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in communications, media management, stakeholder relations or a media environment with a demonstrated ability to implement strategic communications and issues management strategies in a high-pressure project environment, often with tight deadlines.
  • Significant experience managing media relationships with government agencies, authorities, Ministers' offices and departments.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating teams in a government and/or project context.
  • Highly developed written and communication skills, especially in presenting clear and concise information that will be subject to public scrutiny.
