  • Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 (Plus Superannuation)

The Role

Drawing on your cultural knowledge and leadership, and  strong interpersonal skills, you'll help support the Victorian Government and First Peoples in Victoria's shared vision to generate greater individual and collective wealth for First Peoples in Victoria through the implementation of the Yuma Yirramboi Strategy (Invest in Tomorrow).

Main accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the Yuma Yirramboi Council's Koori Caucus and sub-committees to support the delivery of projects, meetings, and activities by undertaking research, and preparing high-quality reports and correspondence.
  • Provide comprehensive operational and administrative support to the Strategy and Engagement team, Koori Caucus, and sub-committees, including meeting management, note-taking, quality assurance of meeting agendas and minutes, and invoice processing.             
  • Maintain relationships with other DJSIR, EPPS, AED and relevant First Peoples stakeholders, including First Peoples industries, cross-government forums, business and organisations, and relevant Victorian Government and non-government stakeholders.

The Team

The position of Governance and Project Officer forms a part of the Aboriginal Economic Development branch within the Economic Policy, Programs and Services group.

The AED branch supports First Peoples self-determination through the delivery of employment and economic development initiatives. It oversees coordination and engagement with DJSIR's peak First Peoples Partnership entity, the Yuma Yirramboi Council, and leads implementation of the Yuma Yirramboi Strategy(Invest for Tomorrow) – the State's shared vision with Victorian First Peoples communities to achieve economic parity between First Peoples and non-First Peoples in Victoria within a generation.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong systems thinking – Demonstrates an ability to assess and identifies the best systems tools for analysing, understanding the system, and addressing problems.
  • Strategic planning – Ensures that day-to-day planning and work processes are in line with team strategy. Can identify and develop individual and group objectives by linking relevant strategies and guiding others in the strategic planning process.
  • Flexibility and adaptability – Accept changed priorities without undue discomfort. Responds quickly to changes. Comfortable working in collaboration with teams out of own organisation.
  • Stakeholder management – Takes steps to add value for the client or stakeholder. Links people with other areas as appropriate. Monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction.
