The position of Senior Sourcing Specialist forms a part of the Investment & Procurement branch within the Corporate Services and Delivery group.

Investment and Procurement Branch provides strategic advice and professional services to the business and our Ministers, creating value by improving performance and sustainability across the DJPR portfolios in line with its objectives.  We promote integrity and ensure policies, processes and systems align with the principles of professional standards and codes of good practice. To fulfil our role in ensuring Victoria's strong economic performance by growing industries and regions, it is imperative we are deeply networked, service-orientated and highly collaborative.

The Senior Sourcing Specialist is responsible for issuing requirements and negotiating with suppliers to obtain goods, materials, and services at the best prices by using strategic sourcing strategies and extensive knowledge of the relevant industry. This role is expected to strategically drive the development and implementation of procurement and sourcing initiatives that support the category objectives, DJPR's strategic goals and achieves value for money.

The key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Support the Manager Strategic Sourcing and Strategic Sourcing Leads in developing the sourcing vision, objectives and initiatives, and support in the development of the category strategy for respective categories.
  • Identify and drive the delivery of appropriate sourcing approaches through conducting market analysis, cost-benefit analysis and determining the appropriate sourcing approach to undertake
  • Manage Sourcing Specialists in the end-to-end execution of sourcing events to ensure value for money is achieved and VGPB procurement standards are adhered to.
  • Lead, manage and support the running of tenders, inputting to the negotiation process of contracts, and supporting the evaluation of quotes documentation of awarding contracts.
  • Own relationships with DJPR stakeholders and regularly engage with the group stakeholders to collect requirements business input during the sourcing process and plan and manage the execution of allocated sourcing events.
  • Prepare material for and participate in internal development meetings (e.g. daily updates), e.g. through discussion of potential strategies of initiatives to be considered.
