The Role
The Advisor, Systems plays a critical role in supporting the department's Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC) deliverables and other government and parliamentary processes. Reporting to the Manager, Ministerial Coordination and Advice in the Government and Parliamentary Services Unit, the role ensures the department and its agencies across the portfolio provide efficient, high-quality, timely, and coordinated advice to support Ministers.
Additionally, you will oversee the administration and enhancements of Government and Parliamentary Services (GPS) business systems, including eBriefings, eCabinet, and WebPPQ/PAEC systems, ensuring their effective operation while maintaining guidelines, procedures, and templates. You will have the opportunity to support ongoing improvements and contribute to projects that uplift the efficiency and effectiveness of ministerial coordination and corporate services.
Main Accountabilities
- Coordinate the department's preparation for Budget and Financial and Performance Outcomes PAEC questionnaires and hearings.
- Maintain and enhance departmental systems, guidelines, and templates to support portfolio Ministers and departmental objectives effectively.
- Manage and support the administration of GPS systems, including eBriefings, eCabinet, and WebPPQ/PAEC.
- Design and implement additions, improvements, and processes to enhance GPS systems and services.
- Provide support for time-critical projects and workflow peaks across the GPS functions.
The Team
The position of Advisor, Systems is part of the Government and Parliamentary Services Unit within the Strategy, Performance and Governance Branch of the Corporate Services group.
The Strategy, Performance and Governance Branch focuses on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Corporate Services Group and the department as a whole. This includes coordinating engagement with Ministers' offices, driving strategic projects, and leading risk, assurance, and compliance programs. The branch supports the department through high-quality reporting, planning, and the development of operational initiatives to ensure accountability and compliance.
About You
To succeed in the Advisor Systems role, you will have:
- Experience managing core corporate business systems and processes to support overall organisational functions.
- Excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to work flexibly, manage priorities, and meet conflicting deadlines in an agile environment.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills to research, assess, and develop tailored, innovative solutions to complex issues.
- A high level of discretion to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Advanced collaboration and teamwork skills to actively support departmental objectives and promote corporate values.
Experience with SharePoint applications and the ability to perform technical functions relevant to the role will be highly regarded.
