Policy Officer

  • Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing role
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Policy Officer role is in the Skilled and Business Migration Program (SBMP), in the Industry, Trade and Investment Group.  The SBMP is responsible for the development and delivery of policies, strategies, programs and services relating to the attraction and retention of international talent to support the Victorian Government's economic development and labour market objectives.

The Policy Officer role has the following accountabilities:

  1. ​​Contributes to strategic policy development within a specific field of expertise ​ 
  2. ​​Advice and analysis contributes to policy formulation ​ 
  3. ​​Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level 

The Team

The position of Policy Officer forms a part of the Industry, Trade and Investment group in the Skilled and Business Migration Program branch.

The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness.

This position is in the Skilled and Business Migration Program which is located in the Global Engagement branch of Global Victoria. 

About You

  1. ​​Policy Design and Development: Interprets and applies policies relevant to own work; Drafts policies and business cases using research skills and in consultation with relevant stakeholders. ​ 
  1. ​​Policy Design and Development: Determines relevant data and evidence gathering approach; Conducts critical analysis on data and evidence collected.  ​ 
  1. ​​Interpersonal Skills: Understands motivations, needs and wants of stakeholders and their impact on service delivery. ​
