About the role:
This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced lawyer with well-developed people management and leadership capabilities to assist the Managing Lawyer in the day to day operational management of our Westernport regional office.

In this role, you will be a senior lawyer in the team, undertaking complex legal work and duty lawyer services, providing expert legal advice and conducting high level casework primarily in family law and family violence matters. In collaboration with the Managing Lawyer you will contribute to the development of less experienced lawyers and contribute to the development, implementation and review of the Westernport regional office plan. You will lead community legal education projects, law reform and other Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) projects as required.

About you:
You are an experienced lawyer looking to take the next step in your career. You have substantial knowledge or practical experience in providing quality legal services and the capacity to work as a senior advocate and caseworker in complex family law and family violence matters.

You demonstrate strong people management and leadership capabilities with proven experience in developing, managing and motivating a team. You are able to provide sound strategic advice on legal and policy issues and demonstrate an understanding of the role of external organisations, private practitioners, community and welfare groups in the delivery of legal aid services.
