About the IT branch

Fostering new and innovative technologies, the VEC's Information Technology (IT) branch supports organisational objectives by providing integrated business technology solutions and information management services, through both in-house development and a range of suppliers and partners.

In addition to supporting a vast number of current applications and associated infrastructure across a range of technology platforms, the IT branch is focused on working with other departments and agencies to improve information sharing in relation to electoral information.

To assist with the delivery of a substantial programme of work each year, the branch has made a significant shift towards adopting Agile methodologies, in particular SCRUM. The Agile approach is further supported by a diverse team with a contemporary approach to ICT.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Lead Business Analyst, the Business Analyst provides the vital link between the VEC's branches and the development teams ensuring requirements are correctly elicited and documented and appropriate technical solutions are developed. The Business Analyst takes responsibility for managing the life cycle of development through to release to production.

Day to day, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with stakeholders to define business processes, efficiency gains or improved customer service opportunities,
  • Developing and documenting user stories and/or requirements (functional and non-functional) to meet business needs, and
  •  leveraging technology opportunities to design and deliver appropriate system solutions.

Our ideal candidate will be known for their analytical and problem-solving skills, outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills, is self-motivated, and has excellen attention to detail.

To be successful in the role, you will also possess:

  • Experience in application analysis and functional design domain
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience in agile and waterfall projects, and experience undertaking the role of Scrum Master
  • Experience consultant in MS dynamics 365
