About the role:
The Investigations Coordinator will assist in the management and resolution of complaints against Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) and external legal service providers by providing high level advice and recommendations. You will investigate and resolve alleged breaches of grants of legal assistance and manage the complaints process. You will also prepare reports and submissions on complaints policy and procedure. You will also be responsible for providing legal advice to Victoria Legal Aid on request, in particular on freedom of information, privacy and data security. 

The Investigations Coordinator will also be required to provide advice to the general public, VLA staff and external legal service providers regarding the complaints handling process, including providing training to staff.

About you:
You will be an experienced complaints handler and have worked previously as an in-house lawyer. You will have the ability to mediate and negotiate effectively to resolve issues and achieve outcomes. You will be able to analyse information, conduct appropriate enquiries and draw sound inferences and conclusions. You will be a problem solver who can effectively work independently to resolve complex problems. You will have excellent communication skills including the ability to consult with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will be used to providing practical pragmatic legal advice to decision-makers. You apply a customer service ethos to your work and seek to add value to the broader organisation through your work. You are efficient and effective. Experience and knowledge in privacy and data security is highly desirable.
