Position Details

Senior Policy Officer, Gender Equity

  • Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term role: 12 months
  • Usual hours of work: Part time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne/Hybrid (flexibility may be available)

The Role

Reporting to the Group Manager, Equity, Policy and Engagement, the Senior Policy Officer, Gender Equity is required to provide policy and strategic advice and analysis and manage funding investments across a range of sport and recreation initiatives to strengthen the equitable and inclusive sport and recreation sector. 

Main accountabilities:

  • Lead, manage and support a range of complex policy initiatives related to equity and inclusion, programs and projects and ensure professional, timely and effective delivery. 
  • Provide timely analysis and authoritative policy advice to senior leaders, members of the Participation and Sector Development unit and other key stakeholders and provide advice on best practice across a range of sport and recreation initiatives.
  • Analyse, identify and develop appropriate strategies and guidance across a range of equitable and inclusive sport and recreation initiatives including appropriate monitoring and evaluation methods. 

The Team

The position of Senior Policy Officer, Gender Equity forms a part of the Sport and Recreation Victoria branch within the Sport and Experience Economy group.

Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV), Tourism and Events (T&E) The SEE Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism and events and outdoor recreation – sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skill and experience:

  • Policy and Project Skills: Formulates and clearly communicates public policy options and recommendations; manages and leads complex projects, keeps up to date with a broad range of contemporary research and issues relating to gender equity and inclusion, scans for links and potential implications of proposed policy options
  • Budget management and financial literacy: Develops and manages complex budgets; negotiates for resources; monitors expenditure against budget projections; plans for and manages risks
  • Written Communication: Prepares briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
