Trade Manager, Health and Life Sciences
- Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed term until 30 June 2027
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)
The Role
Reporting to the Lead, Technology, Health and Life Sciences and Sport, Trade, the Trade Manager leads and implements market access, and trade activities / projects on behalf of the department, directed at improving the export capability and performance of Victoria's Health and Medical Technology sector, in conjunction with government and industry collaborators.
Main accountabilities:
- Design, manage and lead multi-disciplinary projects consistent with Global Victoria's principles, objectives and strategy in line with Departmental budgetary and reporting requirements to meet performance targets.
- Provide expert, high level authoritative and strategic advice on trade related activities and related issues to senior executives. Provide insights, advice and analysis that influences Global Victoria policy development and that impact upon staff, peers and clients outside the immediate work area.
- Contribute to strategic business planning, identify and advise on service delivery resource allocation and develop and implement service plans, client engagement protocols and delivery standards.
- Develop reporting and briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for discussion and consideration of Ministers and senior executives.
The Team
The position of Trade Manager, Health and Life Sciences, forms a part of Global Victoria within the Industry, Trade & Investment Group.
The Trade Branch of Global Victoria also includes Global Engagement and International Education. The Trade Team supports Victorian businesses to access global markets. This includes leading on trade strategy, policy, insights, and improving market access for Victorian firms. The team provides support for identified priority exporters including facilitation and advice services; developing export capability; delivering a strategic program of inward and outbound missions, including conferences, expos and events and directs trade activities delivered by the Victorian government's network of 23 trade and investment offices overseas.
About You
The position requires excellent interpersonal, analytical, networking and communication skills, including experience demonstrated in the provision of sector intelligence to a wide range of audiences.
Your extensive knowledge of and experience in the Health and Life Sciences sectors, with a track record in delivering market access and trade outcomes are essential.
Use your experience in project management and project delivery, particularly trade initiatives or in an international context, including procurement in a government setting, to deliver on the objectives of this team.
