- Salary: $142,790 - $191,084 (Plus Superannuation)

The Role
The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) is seeking to appoint a Chief Audit Officer to join its team.
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Audit and Assurance within the Strategy, Performance and Governance Branch, the Chief Audit Officer leads the delivery of the department's internal and external audit functions, including managing audit service contracts, audit planning, reporting, and follow-up processes. The position also supports the department's Audit and Risk Committee through effective governance and secretariat services.
The Team
The position of Chief Audit Officer forms a part of the Strategy, Performance and Governance branch within the Corporate Services group.
The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management.
About You
The successful candidate brings the following skills and experience:
- CA/CPA/CIA/CISA (or equivalent) or in the process of completing.
- A proven leader with expertise in internal audit, ideally within complex public sector or highly regulated environments, with the ability to provide strategic, independent and trusted advice to senior executives and audit committees.
- Strong professional judgement, integrity and stakeholder engagement skills, with demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams, influencing at executive level, and building productive relationships across a diverse organisation.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional credentials in audit, accounting or a related discipline, with a strong understanding of contemporary assurance practices, legislative obligations and the public sector accountability environment.
