The Game Management Authority (GMA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation of game hunting in Victoria. It delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible hunting in Victoria.

The GMA is responsible for:

• issuing Game Licences and related testing;

• managing open and closed seasons for game species;

• enforcing game hunting laws and taking action against those who do not hunt legally; and

• educating and informing hunters on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria.

Compliance Team Leader (2 positions)

  • $103,920 - $125,735 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing 
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Benella, Traralgon and Lakes Entrance

The position of Compliance Team Leader forms a part of the Compliance and Intelligence Division within the Game Management Authority.

The Game Management Authority (GMA) delivers programs to improve and promote sustainability and responsibility in game hunting within Victoria.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Compliance and Intelligence, you will manage the operational delivery of high-quality community-centred game regulatory services within a state segment (Eastern/Western Victoria), whilst also contributing to state-wide service delivery.

Some of the key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Manage and supervise a regional compliance team across two locations.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with community stakeholders and partner compliance agencies.
  • Contribute to the review and development of standard operating procedures, business rules, plans, strategies and protocols as they relate to regional and state-wide game compliance.

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in leading and managing compliance and/or regulatory activities, preferably in a natural resource management, and/or game or wildlife management field, along with demonstrated experience in managing regional teams remotely and onsite.  If you possess highly developed interpersonal skills and sound judgement as well as proven ability to actively and collaboratively contribute to a high-performing team, then this could be the position for you.
