Senior Project Officer, Compliance

  • Salary: $116,413 - $140,849 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term until 30 June 2027
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)

Your expertise will enhance the Local Jobs First Commissioner's high performing team to deliver measurable outcomes while your collaborative approach will foster innovation and shared success. Main accountabilities:

  • Is a specialist in an area of their profession and relied on for advice in this field

  • Develops service plans and delivery standards for the area of responsibility

The Team

The position of Senior Project Officer, Compliance forms a part of the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment group.

This role is within the Local Jobs First Commissioner's office. The Local Jobs First Act commenced in August 2018 enshrining the Victorian Industry Participation Policy (VIPP) the Major Projects Skills Guarantee (MPSG) and established the role of the Local Jobs First Commissioner. The Commissioner's role is to advocate on behalf of Victorian small and medium enterprises, as well as promoting the employment of apprentices, trainees and cadets on government projects. The Commissioner also oversees compliance with local content and job commitments entered as part of the contractual arrangements for project delivery.

About You 

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Strategic Planning: Thinks at the whole of system level and undertakes internal and external scanning, considering wide-ranging possibilities in developing a vision for the future.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Uses understanding of clients or stakeholders' context to design and implement systems for continuous improvement within team or organisation.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Takes into account wider business context within business unit when considering options to resolve issues. Identifies recurring problems and prevents future recurrence by integrating solutions into work process.
  • Project Delivery: Translates strategies into programs or projects that enable achievement of outcomes required.
