CLINICIAN

 Mental Health Emergency Consultation Service (MHECS)

 

Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional

 

Casual positions

 

Applications are invited from suitably experienced Registered Nurses or appropriately experienced Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, to join the dynamic team in the Mental Health Emergency Consultation Service on a casual basis. The MHECS clinician is part of team responsible for coordinating and delivering emergency mental health assessment and support services to persons (including their family, and or carers) who present to the emergency department experiencing acute mental health crisis and or/are at risk of behavioural disturbance.

 

This position is ideally suited to someone who has a strong interest in mental health and genuine interest in developing their career in this field.

 

Candidates meeting the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Registered Nurse currently registered with APHRA with post graduate qualification and experience working as a nurse, in acute mental health setting; or
  • Appropriately qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Social Worker, with current registration with AHPRA or AASW.
  • Experience in the provision of mental health services, with experience in hospital or community mental health settings.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical assessment and treatment planning skills and comprehensive knowledge of evidence based mental health practice.
  • Well-developed consultation and liaison skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative requirements that govern mental health service provision (including the NSW Mental Health Act 2007), and of current State and National Mental Health policies and their potential impact at a service level.

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the NSW Public Health System Nurses and Midwives State Award. 

 

Successful applicants will be required to complete appropriate Criminal Record Screening paperwork/processes in order for AWH to meet its obligations regarding screening for serious criminal offences (within and external to Australia).  Applicants unable to commit to this screening process should not submit an application for employment.

 

Successful applicants will be required to complete mandatory orientation modules using the AWH e-learning system prior to commencing employment.

 

This is a Category A position. Successful applicants of Category A positions must provide evidence of vaccination prior to commencement.
