  • $102,637 - $124,183 (plus superannuation)

The position of Senior Assessor - Fair Jobs Code forms a part of the Industry Development and Participation branch within the Jobs, Innovation and Business Engagement group.

The Industry Development and Participation (IDP) Branch works collaboratively across the Victorian Government to deliver on government policy that helps drive sustainable industry and jobs growth to positively impact Victorians' lives and the economy. The branch implements programs and initiatives which support industry development across the state, coordinating and driving policy across key sectors of the state's economy. It also works to support opportunities for Victorian small and medium enterprises and workers in government procurements, with responsibility for the administration of the Local Jobs First Act 2003, the delivery of the Local Jobs First Policy, and the recognition of companies doing right by their workers through the delivery and oversight of the Fair Jobs Code.

The Senior Assessor - Fair Jobs Code is responsible for assessing business and supplier adherence to the standards under the Fair Jobs Code. The role involves providing authoritative advice to the Director Fair Jobs Code Unit in the Department of Jobs Precincts and Regions on the operations of the Fair Jobs Code. The successful candidate will work as part of a small team and with partners across and external to the department to support the implementation of the Fair Jobs Code.

The key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Assessing applications for a Pre-Assessment Certificate from suppliers and businesses under the Fair Jobs Code.
  • Providing recommendations and strategic policy advice to the Director Fair Jobs Code Unit including advice on the supporting policies, guidelines and processes for Code compliance.
  • Monitoring and interpretation of Victorian and Commonwealth legislation to support and encourage compliance with employment, industrial and workplace health and safety obligations.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with a range of internal and external legal and industrial relations stakeholders including Industrial Relations Victoria, the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office and internal DJPR Legal branch to support the Code's ongoing operation.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employment law information to become a leading expert adviser to senior management, and more broadly across the Department.
  • Other duties and projects to assist senior management in implementation and ongoing management of the Fair Jobs Code, as required.
