Manager, Strategy & Insights, International Education & Study Melbourne

  • Salary: $116,413 - $140,849 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term until 30 June 2027
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)

The Role

Do you have experience identifying risks and opportunities and providing senior stakeholders with solutions to complex problems? The international education sector is Victoria's largest services export, generating significant economic value for the state. The sector has a range of stakeholders and operates in a complex policy and regulatory environment. We are looking for someone who will use their policy and analytical skills, with some creativity, to work with the sector and provide advice to government on how to maximise economic value for the state and ensure Victoria remains Australia's destination of choice for international students. 

Main accountabilities:

  • Focuses on understanding stakeholder issues 
  • Innovative thinking and analysis influences developments within area of responsibility
  • Initiates and maintains relationships with peer and senior internal and external stakeholders 
  • Formulates policy options and advice 

The Team

The position of Manager, Strategy & Insights, International Education & Study Melbourne forms a part of the Trade, Global Engagement, International Education & Migration branch within the Industry, Trade & Investment group.

The Trade, Global Engagement, International Education and Migration Branch connects Victoria to global opportunities. We do this by building the export capability of Victorian businesses, connecting Victorians to global trade opportunities through our international network of twenty-three offices, promoting our world class industry capabilities to international audiences and seeking to attract and retain the best global talent. We take a leadership role for global engagement across Government and advocate for the best policy settings for Victoria to be globally competitive.

  • Policy Design and Development: Formulates and communicates public policy options and recommendations; Develops a clear narrative for the policies and business cases including clear problem definition and objectives.

  • Future Focus: Understands the broader context when reviewing an issue or problem and supports others to do so. Is future oriented in analysis, thought and action.
