About the role:

Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) Family Dispute Resolution Service (FDRS) works with clients to resolve family law disputes. The service provides best practice, high volume legally-assisted dispute resolution services within a legal agency.

You will individually engage, assess and prepare clients so they may fully participate in a one-off settlement conference conducted by an accredited family dispute resolution practitioner (chairperson). As case manager, you will provide information, education and support services to FDRS clients, lawyers and other stakeholders. You will also work closely with professional and community agencies to enhance community legal education, and assist in developing strategies to ensure high quality services are provided to clients.

About you:
You will have a relevant tertiary qualification and highly developed communication and engagement skills with the ability to negotiate with a wide range of clients, including those with mental health issues, those who have experienced or used family violence, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. You will have the capacity to manage a heavy workload under pressure, to successfully navigate change in work practices, and have the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your knowledge and understanding of issues that arise in separating families and a strong commitment to delivering quality services. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to the vision and values of the organisation, and supporting the key objectives and priorities within the FDRS.

About Victoria Legal Aid:

Our vision is for a fair and just society where rights and responsibilities are upheld. With over 800 staff employed in 14 offices across Victoria, we help people with their legal problems by providing information, advice and education with a focus on the prevention and early resolution of legal problems. We also provide legal representation to those who need it most.

Employee benefits:
We offer attractive employment benefits including salary packaging (making part of your salary tax-free), flexible working arrangements, family friendly policies and opportunities for professional development. Whilst the work is challenging, you will be rewarded with a culture that is focused on achieving quality outcomes for disadvantaged Victorians.
