About the role
The Manager – Aboriginal Employee Wellbeing and Capability leads the Aboriginal Employee Wellbeing and Capability Unit to strengthen cultural safety, employment pathways, and the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees across Parks Victoria.
The role establishes operational guardrails, delivers high-quality services, and provides hands-on support to promote a culturally safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace. It works collaboratively across the organisation and with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities to ensure that Aboriginal employment, capability and wellbeing initiatives are meaningful, effective, and sustainable.
The position provides leadership in developing and implementing programs and strategies that enable Aboriginal staff to thrive and contribute to Parks Victoria's goals in caring for Country, community and culture.
This is a special measures role and only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply as per the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
About the Aboriginal Engagement and Partnerships Division
The Aboriginal Engagement and Partnerships Division provides strategic direction and culturally sound advice to guide Parks Victoria and empower staff to genuinely partner and meaningfully engage with Traditional Owners, including through joint management of parks and reserves.
The Division also provides cultural heritage management advice and oversees the implementation Organizational wide strategies and frameworks to advance Aboriginal Self Determination, employment outcomes and cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and Partners Parks Victoria work with.
We're looking for someone with:
- Proven ability to lead teams and influence across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Deep knowledge of cultural safety, inclusion, and workforce capability development
- Demonstrated experience leading Aboriginal employment, wellbeing, cultural safety, or capability development initiatives within complex organisations.
- Experience in designing and implementing programs that improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
