Position Details
- Opportunity to interact with all the varied stakeholders, volunteers and visitors to the site.
- Be part a small experienced and hard working team in this ongoing opportunity.
- Provide excellent customer service to visitors during underground mine tours.
About the role
This position is located at the State Coal Mine in Wonthaggi. The small, dedicated team oversee the management and maintenance of the built visitor assets at the site, including buildings, grounds, visitor centre and the underground coal mine. This position will be required to assist with customer service, volunteer supervision, tour guiding duties related to the underground mine, as well as general maintenance and administrative tasks.
About the Team
The State Coal Mine team is a small and passionate one. Teamwork is essential given the various duties required daily. Duties may include visitor interactions, guiding an underground tour, managing volunteers, administrative tasks, general maintenance and cleaning. Weekend and public holiday work is expected.
We're looking for someone with:
- Demonstrated experience in natural resource management, outdoor education, trades, volunteering or community programs.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills and public speaking.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems with technical issues, staff issues and customer complaints.
- Relevant level of knowledge of regulations and compliance procedures.
- Other qualifications such as ACUP or chainsaw are highly desirable but not mandatory.
