About the role

The Ranger Team Leader plays a pivotal role in leading and supporting a team of Rangers in providing exceptional experiences for visitors to Victoria's parks and reserves. As a Ranger Team Leader, you are responsible for leading the on-ground management of Parks Victoria's estate, consistent with organisational priorities, policies and procedures, ensuring that people can enjoy the outdoors and protecting the things that make our parks and reserves so special.

You will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic for team members to follow and ensure that team employees maintain a high standard of personal accountability. Ranger Team Leaders are responsible for guiding the team, to inspire enthusiasm, to ensure their safety and welfare and to ensure they are appreciated for their efforts. The position is responsible for ‘hands on' people management which includes leading, managing and developing the team which may include ongoing employees, contractors, casuals, temporary staff and/or volunteers.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in leadership, performance management and managing a team day to day
  • Demonstrated flexibility in workload management
  • Demonstrate strong customer service focus both internally and externally
  • Track record in dealing with external stakeholders on a range of land management issues
