Position Details

About the role
This position will be essential in safeguarding the natural assets within Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. Focused on achieving the objectives of the Grampians Ark program, you will implement a landscape-scale baiting operation and conduct values-based protection using methods like trapping, shooting, and fumigation. Responsibilities include collecting and managing extensive data, adhering to regulations for 1080 and PAPP use, and deploying remote sensing cameras. Additionally, there are opportunities to contribute to other conservation initiatives, such as deer and goat control, weed management, and revegetation projects. The Grampians Ark collaborates closely with research organisations, offering pathways to develop diverse research skills.

We're looking for someone with:
- Certificate or Diploma in Natural Resource Management and/or equivalent experience in a similar field.
- Demonstrated experience in pest animal control techniques (preferably fox control) and monitoring (preferably remote cameras).
- Victorian Firearms (Longarm) Licence and experience using firearms safely for pest animal management.
- 4x4 experience and or qualification preferred.
- Agricultural Chemical Users Permit with 1080 endorsement is preferred
- Demonstrated experience with data management and preparation of reports using computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience coordinating and managing small projects.
