Position Details

Finance Analyst

  • Salary: $79,122 to $96,073 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term until 12 February 2027
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

We're seeking a Finance Analyst, with analytical skills and an understanding of financial principles and public sector processes.  You will collaborate closely with finance teams, business units and stakeholders, providing clear financial insights to support decision-making. The role is suited to someone with strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability and communication skills, who can translate funding and financial data into meaningful, fit-for-purpose information in a government environment.

Main accountabilities:

  • Develop and continuously improve financial policies, processes and procedures to support effective financial management and reporting.
  • Prepare and contribute to internal and external financial reports, including quarterly reporting, briefings and financial analysis.
  • Apply government accounting principles and standards, including journals, expense processing, funding agreements and grant acquittals.
  • Identify financial issues and risks and provide clear advice on options and strategies within short timeframes.

The Team

This position of Finance Analyst forms a part of the TAFE Performance, Finance and Infrastructure branch, Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery (OTCD), in the Skills and TAFE group.

OTCD provides system leadership for the Victorian TAFE Network, working with TAFEs and Dual Sector Universities to align training delivery with government priorities and industry needs. The branch has responsibility for financial oversight, performance frameworks, funding programs, asset planning and initiatives to improve the financial sustainability of the TAFE Network.

About You

  • You have a sound understanding of accounting principles and government financial standards, supported by strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • You can explain financial concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders and prepare written materials such as reports, briefs and presentations.
