Policy and Project Officer

  • Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term to Friday, 4 December 2026
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)

The Role

Reporting to the Principal Adviser, Office of the Chief Executive (OCE), the Policy and Project Officer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of place-based policy research, analysis and advice and priority projects, that contribute to the achievement of policy objectives for regional Victoria.   

The Policy and Project Officer role will have the following accountabilities:

  1. Support the delivery of a range of branch and whole-of-group projects, events, meetings, activities, and the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the Office of the Chief Executive.
  2. Coordinate the approval and finalisation of high-quality reports, briefing papers, correspondence and Cabinet submissions and Parliamentary business (PPQs/PQs/PAEC) on complex policy issues, in collaboration with RDV staff and stakeholders.
  3. Contribute to/or undertake, research, analysis, and development of whole of group policy responses and provision of accurate and concise evidence-based advice on a wide range of regional policy issues. 

The Team

The position of Policy and Project Officer forms a part of the Regional Development Victoria group in the Office of the Chief Executive branch.

About You

  1. Policy Skills: Aware of, interprets and applies policies; drafts simple policies using research skills and consults with stakeholders; provides feedback on draft policies. 
  2. Service Excellence: Constantly looks for continuous improvement opportunities and ways to innovate and encourages others to do the same;
  3. Written and Verbal Communication: Prepares briefs, letters, emails, and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language pertinent to its audiences.
  4. Project management: Produces project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified.
