Procurement Specialist
- Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 (Plus Superannuation)
- Ongoing role
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)
The Role
The Procurement Specialist plays a critical role by providing procurement advice to DJSIR Groups and contributing to the running of multiple sourcing events. This fast-paced business-critical work involves working closely with other specialists in the Procurement Centre as well as project managers across DJSIR to deliver on the department's strategic goals (including social procurement) procurement compliance and achieving value for money.
Main accountabilities:
- Support the Lead Procurement Specialist in providing expert procurement advice to ensure compliance with DJSIR policies and achieve value for money outcomes.
- Build and maintain relationships with DJSIR Groups, internal and external stakeholders to achieve delivery of the Group stakeholders' objectives from sourcing events.
- Contribute to identifying appropriate sourcing approaches through conducting market analysis, cost- benefit analysis and determining the appropriate sourcing approach to undertake.
- Contribute to the end-to-end execution of sourcing events to ensure value for money is achieved and VGPB procurement standards are adhered to.
The Team
The position of Procurement Specialist forms a part of the Finance, Investment and Procurement branch within the Corporate Services group.
The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management. Finance, Investment and Procurement supports best practice resource allocation, budget and financial management and procurement across the department. It does this through the provision of strategic advice to the senior Executive and Ministers and the development and implementation of frameworks, policies, systems and internal controls
About You
The successful candidates will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Critical thinking and problem solving: resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines. Where guidelines are not available, analyses ideas available and takes action through self, or in consultation with others to resolve problems.
- Stakeholder management: Takes concrete steps to add value for the stakeholder; links people with other areas (as appropriate), monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction; constructively deals with stakeholder issues.
- Working collaboratively: cooperates and works well with others in pursuit of team goals; share information and acknowledge others' efforts; step in to help others where required; engage other teams to share information in order to understand or respond to issues.
