Project Manager, Professional Sport Infrastructure
- Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (plus superannuation)
- Fixed-term position to 29 January 2027
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)
The Role
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Project Manager who will work within a dynamic team, liaising with a wide range of sporting and public sector stakeholders to support strategic planning, business planning, project management, and the provision of high-level advice on sporting facility matters.
This position will support the Director, Sport and Entertainment Precincts and Group Manager, Professional Sport Infrastructure in providing high quality written and verbal advice on the progress and outcomes of major sports infrastructure projects.
The position will be responsible for working as part of the project team and with prominent stakeholders to ensure the State Government's sport and recreation policy outcomes are achieved. The position will ensure projects are delivered using appropriate governance procedures and evidenced based decision making. The Project Manager will work collaboratively with, manage, and provide leadership to staff reports.
Main accountabilities:
- Focuses on understanding stakeholder issues.
- Negotiates with stakeholders and peers with the object of gaining co-operation and meeting timelines for delivery of project, service or advice.
- Develops briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for discussion and consideration and will contribute to the development of a set of final options for decision.
- Manages an area with significant budget, staff responsibilities or strategic importance
- Manages and leads projects.
- Innovative thinking and analysis influences developments within area of responsibility.
The Team
The position of Project Manager forms part of Sport and Recreation Victoria branch, which sits under Sport and Experience Economy group.
Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) and Tourism and Events (T&E). SRV aims to create greater sport and active recreation participation opportunities for all Victorians to maximise economic, social and health benefits and enhance Victoria's liveability.
This is achieved by supporting the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events and the Minister for Community Sport in the management of major sports facilities, administering grant programs that develop community facilities, strengthening the capacity of sport and recreation organisations, developing more active recreation and other innovative options to increase overall participation rates, reducing barriers to participation for specific population groups, supporting world-class sporting events and Victoria's high performance sport sector, and reinforcing the role that sport and active recreation plays in growing the Victorian economy, supporting jobs and building stronger communities.
