Senior Project Officer - Clean Economy

  • Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus superannuation)
  • Fixed-term position for 1.5 years
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Officer to support the delivery of projects relating to Victorian Skills Authority's Clean Economy portfolio, in particular program funding for the design and development of vocational training across Victoria.

Key responsibilities include planning and the execution of projects including managing timelines, budgets and deliverables, building and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, education and training providers and community, preparing regular project reports, tracking progress, identifying risks, and proposing solutions, contributing to the development of new policies and initiatives to promote clean energy adoption, conducting research on clean energy policies, regulations and trends.

Main accountabilities:

  • Design and execute complex projects to support the design and development of vocational training across Victoria.
  • Drive successful project outcomes by developing and implementing comprehensive plans that prioritise continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and timely reporting.
  • Assess project plans rigorously to ensure they meet high standards of feasibility, sustainability and innovation.
  • Prepare high quality briefs, reports, and presentations to influence decisions pertaining to workforce and skills needs on clean economy; ensure quality and appropriateness of advice and facilitate effective decision-making on clean economy vocational training initiatives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and achieve high quality outcomes.
  • Work flexibly and collaboratively across the business to deliver branch, group and department priorities and initiatives as required.

The Team

The position of Senior Project Officer forms a part of the Executive and Corporate Services Branch, which sits within Victorian Skills Authority.

The Victorian Skills Authority (VSA) provides evidence-based planning and solutions to meet current and future skills needs in Victoria. We are an administrative office led by a chief executive officer and supported by an advisory board of key stakeholders.

We report directly to the Minister for Skills and TAFE and work closely with the Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery and the Skills and TAFE Group within DJSIR.

Our role is to gather and analyse industry data, identify where there are current and emerging skills shortages in Victoria's workforce, work with stakeholders to develop strategies to fill these gaps and drive engagement, collaboration and innovation across Victoria's skills system.

The VSA has 4 branches – Engagement and Skills Reform Branch, Services Branch, Analysis and Insights Branch and Executive and Corporate Services Branch.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have the following main skills and experience:

  • Project Management: Consults, liaises with, and influences key stakeholders; produces detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues; ensures project objectives are met.
  • Resource Management: Develops and manages complex budgets; negotiates for resources; monitors expenditure against budget projections; plans for and manages risks; ensures the use of honest, transparent and appropriate purchasing processes.
  • Written Communication: Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails, and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; ensures appropriate style and formats are used.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships; identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs; uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved; find innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Seeks resolution of problems through policy or process guidelines; Otherwise seeks guidance by providing information and ideas relevant towards resolution of problem. Understands concepts enabling improvements in critical thinking and problem solving.
