- Salary: $79,122 - $96,073 (Plus superannuation)
- Fixed term position for 24 months
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)
- Usual Hours of Work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
The Role
We are seeking a motivated AI Support Officer to provides essential support in the planning and delivery of AI adoption initiatives across the department. This role focuses on coordinating delivery activities, supporting project management processes, maintaining documentation and enabling effective engagement with stakeholders. The role requires a proactive, organised, and adaptable team player with strong coordination and communication skills, and an interest in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The successful candidate will possess strong organisational and coordination skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to think independently and proactively. A collaborative mindset, clear communication, and an enthusiasm for learning in a fast-evolving space will be essential to success in this role.

Main accountabilities:
- Support delivery of AI initiatives by actively participating in prototyping, implementation and testing of AI pilots, proofs-of-concept, and deployments.
- Support the coordination of meetings, workshops, and engagement activities with internal stakeholders, vendors, and delivery partners such as Cenitex and WoVG entities.
- Assist with analysis, data collection and hands-on experimentation to support requirement definition for AI initiatives and successful delivery.
- Assist with monitoring and reporting on the progress, delivery outcomes, and benefits realisation of AI initiatives, ensuring delivery impact is measured and communicated.
- Maintain project documentation including prototype results, status reports, action, project risk and decision registers and lessons learned to support knowledge sharing and improvement.
The Team
This position of AI Support Officer forms a part of the Information Technology & Workplace Services Branch, which sits under Corporate Services Group.
The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including strategic communications, finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management. These functions enable the department to operate efficiently and effectively and support the Secretary and Ministers to meet legislative obligations and responsibilities whilst actively supporting the department's portfolio groups and Ministers to create the conditions for growing Victoria's prosperity, building the productive capacity of our economy, and increasing participation.
The Corporate Services group works to build a safe, high-performing organisation where the department's people are supported to perform at their best. The group does this by providing strategic, operational and program delivery support services in creative and innovative ways.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have the following main skills and experience:
- AI Capabilities and Technological Literacy: Demonstrated understanding of AI tools and trends, including experience in experimenting with AI solutions or productivity tools. Awareness of ethical AI principles, data privacy, and risk mitigation considerations. Ability to apply this knowledge to support the delivery of AI initiatives and work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Project Delivery: Produces project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; regularly communicates with and supports project team members; monitors progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required.
- Problem Solving: Seeks all relevant information for problem-solving; liaises with stakeholders; analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available; identifies and proposes workable solutions to problems.
- Stakeholder Management: Takes steps to add value for the stakeholder; links people with other areas (as appropriate); monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction; constructively deals with stakeholder issues.
- Planning and Organising: Identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; identifies more and less critical activities and operates accordingly; implements systems and procedures to guide work and track progress; recognises barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.
