The Role

The Manager Cyber Operations plays a key role in supporting the delivery of ongoing operational cyber security outcomes within the Information Technology and Workplace Services branch. The position supports the wider department in uplifting adherence to security policies, standards and industry frameworks.

Main accountabilities:

  • Set the strategy and drive the outcomes for cyber security within the department to address organisational risk
  • Lead the development of associated policies and practices that support industry frameworks and standards.
  • Manage the Cyber Security capabilities needed to deliver on DJSIR's objectives securely and effectively. Maintain the principles of professional standards and compliance with information security, data protection and information management frameworks and standards.
  • Work in partnership with Cenitex and third-party providers to plan, execute and deliver on improvement initiatives and deliverables of the Cyber Strategy.

The Team

The position of Manager Cyber Operations forms a part of the Information Technology and Workplace Services branch within the Corporate Services group.

The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including strategic communications, finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and the close out of activities related to the Commonwealth Games.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Technical Experience: Minimum of 5 year demonstrated experience within Cyber Security with a detailed understanding of security standards and frameworks including Essential 8 and NIST
  • Stakeholder Management: Build broad relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups. Add value by uplifting skills across the wider department and seek to collaborate with wider government entities across Victoria.
  • Systems Thinking: Actively engage and shape forward looking practices and whole of government policies that embrace modern capabilities that facilitate the transformation of services and work practices.
