The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) is seeking to appoint an Insurance Advisor to join its team.
Reporting to the Senior Insurance Advisor, the Insurance Advisor supports the department's general insurance program.
The successful candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong skills in coordinating insurance renewals, managing claims, and supporting the development of annual insurance attestations. They will demonstrate excellent stakeholder engagement and thrive in delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working collaboratively within a team, they will bring strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Enthusiastic and adaptable, they will enjoy variety in their work and contribute to achieving project outcomes while supporting the department's insurance program.
Main accountabilities:
- Working with the Senior Insurance Advisor, to support the department's General Insurance Program, including contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to the department's insurance function that are compliant with Victorian government requirements and standards.
- Undertake periodic reviews to provide report back to the Senior Insurance Advisor on the adequacy of the type and level of the department's insurance cover and provide recommendations based on research and analysis of data.
- Set up and coordinate processes and procedures to enable processing claims against the department's insurance and implement and maintain the department's insurance management database.
- Support departmental stakeholders in raising awareness and ensuring understanding of the respective insurance requirements, policy and procedures.
The Team
This position of Insurance Advisor forms a part of the Strategy Performance and Governance branch, in the Corporate Services group.
The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including strategic communications, finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services.
The Strategy, Performance and Governance branch objective is to continuously uplift the efficiency and effectiveness of the Corporate Services Group and the department. The branch does this by driving a program including strategic projects, departmental frameworks and key programs of operational activities aimed at enhancing the performance of Corporate Services Group and the department. The branch enables high-quality reporting, strategic and business planning to facilitate effective oversight and informed decision making across the department.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have the following main skills and experience:
- Project management: Produces project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; regularly communicates with and supports project team members; ensures project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues.
- Planning and organising: Identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; identifies more and less critical activities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required; develops and implements systems and procedures to guide work and track progress; recognizes barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.
- Written Communication: Prepares briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; ensures written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose; uses appropriate style and formats.
- Stakeholder Management: Takes concrete steps to add value for the stakeholder; links people with other areas (as appropriate), monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction; constructively deals with stakeholder issues.
- Problem solving: Seeks all relevant information for problem-solving; investigates and probes for the facts; liaises with stakeholders; analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available; identifies and proposes workable solutions to problems.
