Position Details

Policy Manager, Policy and Insights

  • Salary: $138,631 - $185,518 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing role
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition St, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

Lead a team in the design and delivery of policy and research aligned to departmental priorities, with a core focus on Creative Victoria's strategic agenda.

The Policy Manager role involves managing and developing a multi-disciplinary team, including data, research and generalist policy functions, to undertake a broad spectrum of policy and research and providing advice and analysis to the department and Minister. The role requires a high level of experience in policy development, strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to coordinate complex stakeholder input, including across government and externally, and leadership and people management experience.

Main accountabilities:

  • Develops policy frameworks within area of expertise or responsibility based on defined organisational priorities
  • Routinely advises senior stakeholders on policy issues and solutions within a functional area
  • Manages an area with significant budget, staff responsibilities or strategic importance
  • Purpose of communication may be to resolve complex issues through a process of consultation and negotiation

The Team

The position of Policy Manager, Policy and Insights forms a part of the Policy and Delivery branch within Creative Victoria.

The Policy and Delivery branch has 3 units, Agencies and Infrastructure, Creative Investment and Policy and Development.

The branch brings together Creative Victoria's programs and investment in support of artists, creative workers, creative organisations, businesses, and portfolio agencies, with our work to manage and deliver world-class creative infrastructure. The branch also leads on policy and coordination across government and industry, and the development of Victoria's creative industries strategy.

About You

The role requires demonstrated capability in policy development, stakeholder coordination, and team leadership.
