Position Details

Policy Officer, Policy and Insights

  • Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term up to 1 February 2027
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

The Role

Support the delivery of policy and research that aligns with departmental priorities, including Creative Victoria's strategic agenda. In this role, you will assist in the development of outcomes-focused initiatives by conducting analysis, preparing advice, and contributing to projects across the policy lifecycle.

A Policy Officer researches, develops, and evaluates policies and plays a role in shaping policy by analysing issues, formulating recommendations, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure policies are effective and aligned with relevant goals. 

Main accountabilities:

  1. Advice and analysis contributes to policy formulation
  2. Undertakes technical data analysis and modelling and prepares reports
  3. Defines the appropriate methodology in the analysis of policy or research options
  4. Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level 

The Team

The position of Policy Officer, Policy and Insights forms a part of the Policy and Delivery Branch within the Creative Victoria Group.

Creative Victoria is the state government body dedicated to championing, growing and supporting Victoria's creative industries, and the benefits they bring to Victorians. We invest in the ideas, talent, organisations, events and projects that make Victoria a creative state. 

This position sits within the Policy and Delivery branch. The Policy and Delivery branch has 3 units, Agencies and Infrastructure, Creative Investment and Policy and Industry Development.

You will have the ability to operate with an outcome approach demonstrating a sense of purpose for the team enabling others to understand strategic direction for the branch. You will use your collaborative working ability to provide supportive and cooperative team environments, that engages with a wider system of teams toward achieving objectives the branch.
