Position Details

Project Officer, Events and Venues

  • Salary: $97,955 – $111,142 plus superannuation
  • Ongoing role
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

As the Project Officer, Events and Venues, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of strategic business events and manage operational activities across key departmental venues including the Investment Centre Victoria and, on occasion, International Chamber House. You will work in a fast-paced environment requiring strong project and event coordination skills, excellent communication, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The role is ideal for someone with event coordination experience, strong administrative capability, and the confidence to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Main Accountabilities

  • Assist with delivering a range of strategic business events and projects within tight timelines.
  • Coordinate event invitations, RSVPs and attendance information using Cvent.
  • Support day-to-day operations and event logistics for the Investment Centre Victoria.
  • Assist with financial administration including invoice processing, journal transfers and related enquiries.
  • Coordinate staffing providers such as catering personnel and other event suppliers.

The Team

The position forms part of the Events and Venues team within the Industry, Trade and Investment Services branch of the Industry, Trade and Investment group (ITI).

The branch provides broad support services across the group, enabling the successful delivery of trade, investment and industry development activity. The Business Events and Venues team is responsible for administering the Business Events Hosting Program and managing the operations of the Investment Centre Victoria and International Chamber House.

About You

You bring experience coordinating end-to-end events, including planning, delivery and reporting. You will also have experience supporting venue operations, managing booking systems, logistics and administration processes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively, build trusted stakeholder relationships and thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
