The Role

Reporting to the Senior Investment Manager, Defence & Aerospace Team, this role will be pivotal in providing intelligence and insights to develop and coordinate investment strategies, policies and programs to improve Victoria's industry competitiveness and support growth of targeted air service attraction and also supporting investments and industry development initiatives across advanced air mobility, defence and aerospace industries. 

Main accountabilities:

  • Provide data insights related to the aviation advanced air mobility, defence and aerospace sector and translate these insights into policies, strategies and programs that uplift the economy.
  • Provide key advice, analysis and guidance to support Ministers and senior executives on economic issues and trends relevant to aviation, advanced air mobility, defence and aerospace and related commercial activities and their combined impact on Victoria.
  • Support coordination and facilitation of large, sophisticated investment attraction projects with complex contract negotiations and commercial arrangements.
  • Support and foster strong working relationships and work collaboratively across the local and international VGTI network across the department and broader government to increase the State's capabilities and secure investments to the State. Facilitate development of relationships with industry and other stakeholders in target sectors to support projects and aid in securing investment opportunities that deliver new jobs and capital investments. 

The Team

The position of Insights, Policy and Projects Manager forms a part of the Defence, Aviation and Aerospace Branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment Group. 

The Defence, Aviation and Aerospace Branch provides whole of Victorian Government leadership and coordination on the defence and aerospace and the aviation industries to grow these sectors and capture specific strategic opportunities. 

The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation. ITI harnesses specialist knowledge of key industries and global markets to develop Victoria's priority sectors, boost trade activities, enhance productivity and contribute to economic growth. 

About You

Use your understanding of investment trends and related sector opportunities for Victoria, and your good understanding of the aviation and advanced air mobility business environment, together with an ability to use leverage data insights to develop policies, strategies and programs for target sectors. Your ability to apply this knowledge to the business environment to identify potential opportunities or barriers to securing investment is core to this role. 

Your experience in data analytics, strategy and policy development, stakeholder management and project management will be well regarded. Your experience in the aviation or advanced air mobility industry or experience working with prospective investors seeking to expand or enter a new market will enable you to meet the objectives of this role.
