Manager, Strategic Financial and Funding Analysis

  • Salary: $138,631 - $185,518 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing, full-time role (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

The Role

As Manager, Strategic Financial and Funding Analysis in the Budget, Performance and Insights Unit, you will have a significant opportunity to influence financial strategy and funding decisions that shape the future of Victoria's training system. 

We are seeking a candidate with strong financial acumen, analytical capability, and experience in budget management, funding and costing models, or economic analysis—ideally within a government or complex policy environment. 

Main accountabilities:

  • Manages an area with significant budget, staff responsibilities or strategic importance
  • Identifies and responds to new and emerging strategic issues impacting on the operating environment
  • Develops briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for decision within an organisation
  • Provides authoritative expert advice on complex issues within own area

The Team

The position of Manager, Strategic Financial and Funding Analysis forms a part of the Policy and Strategy branch within the Skills and TAFE group. 

Skills and TAFE (S&T) focus on enabling Victorians to access the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to participate in today's workforce, prepare for future jobs, and achieve their educational aspirations. 

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skill and experience:

  • Team Management: Aligns community needs, service delivery model, talent availability against workforce strategy and architecture.
  • Business and Commercial Acumen: Drives a culture of value add and/or return of investment. Considers economic indicators to inform strategic direction and manage organisational risk. Drive efficiencies in functions to better support the business.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Works to find new ways to deliver outcomes. Recognises the merits of different options and acts accordingly. Builds commitment of others to adopt new strategies to deliver against outcomes.
