Senior Performance Analyst

The Role

The Senior Performance Analyst plays a key role in delivering high-quality analysis, insight and critical thinking to support the Policy and Strategy Branch's understanding of the vocational education and training (VET) system.

The position supports the development and application of performance frameworks and analytical products, including modelling and data visualisation, to generate meaningful insights that inform policy development and strategic decision-making. Strong analytical capability is complemented by the ability to communicate evidence-based findings clearly to a range of internal and external stakeholders, supporting continuous improvement across the training system.

Main accountabilities

  • Apply innovative thinking and analysis to influence developments within the area of responsibility.
  • Initiate research and analysis within an area of expertise aligned to organisational objectives.
  • Develop briefs on highly complex issues, providing options for discussion and decision-making.
  • Prepare advanced technical and analytical reports to support policy and strategic outcomes.

The Team

The position of Senior Performance Analyst forms part of the Policy and Strategy Branch within the Skills and TAFE Group.

The Branch leads the system and strategic policy settings of Victoria's VET system, monitoring performance and trends to ensure high-quality outcomes for learners and the Victorian economy. It works closely with Commonwealth, state and territory governments, universities and other stakeholders to drive national reform, lead Cabinet and budget processes, and provide coordinated advice across the Skills and TAFE portfolio.

About You

You bring advanced data literacy and analytical skills, with experience interrogating complex data sets to derive actionable insights. You are confident developing analytical models, visualisations and evidence-based advice to inform immediate and future decision-making. You apply systems thinking to diagnose trends and opportunities, work collaboratively across teams, and remain adaptable in a changing policy environment. You can communicate complex findings clearly and calmly, even under pressure, to support informed decisions and continuous improvement.
