Governance Officer

  • Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing, full-time role (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and capable Governance Officer to support the work of the TAFE Governance team within the Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery. This role offers a valuable opportunity to develop skills in governance, communication, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to key projects and processes that support the effective governance of Victoria's TAFE network.

This role offers an excellent foundation for a career in public administration or governance, with opportunities to learn and develop skills, while contributing to improving the public accountability, performance, and strategic outcomes of the TAFE Network.

Reporting to the Senior Governance Officer in the TAFE Governance team, you will assist in planning and coordinating communications and project activities, providing governance advice, and engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. The role involves supporting the preparation of briefs and reports, contributing to policy and project documentation, and assisting with the analysis of governance information to inform advice and decision-making.

The Team

The position of Governance Officer forms a part of the TAFE Strategy Systems and Tertiary Governance Branch within the Skills and TAFE Group. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Oversight delivery of transition initiatives with individual TAFEs and the Victorian TAFE Network (VTN) to drive improvement in operating models and strengthen outcomes for Victorian students and industry. 
  • Lead implementation of TAFE reform initiatives and program delivery. 
  • Lead partnerships with individual TAFEs and the Victorian TAFE Network, underpinned by OTCD Stakeholder Engagement Plan. 
  • Driving engagement across the Department, whole of Government and the sector to drive the interface between the government's policy agenda and outcomes for Victorian students and communities. 
  • Lead strategic TAFE Governance advice and support, 
  • Lead strengthened OTCD assurance function.

The ideal candidate will have strong written communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in public sector governance. You will demonstrate initiative, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, high-performing team.
