Salesforce Technical Consultant

  • Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus superannuation)
  • Fixed Term position for 21 months
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)

The Role

As a Salesforce Technical Consultant, you will deliver enhancements in an agile environment across the department's multiple Salesforce instances. The Salesforce Technical Consultant is responsible for gathering and documenting requirements, managing stakeholder relationships, developing & designing Salesforce technical solutions including integrations with other platforms, solution implementation, and delivery. The role provides strategy recommendations for Salesforce development, including technology approaches, security, apps, and third-party tools that deliver best practice outcomes.

Demonstrated experience in eliciting requirements from stakeholders through workshop sessions, ability to design technical solutions in the Salesforce multi-cloud environment and develop and implement Salesforce solutions through code, configuration and customization.

The role is part of a multidisciplinary team of business analysts, administrator support, Salesforce developers and testers. The team is responsible for supporting the department's multiple Salesforce instances and approximately 2500 users.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Engage with a range of stakeholders (policy, operations, IT, and service delivery teams) to gather, refine, and validate business requirements.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive documentation including user stories, functional specifications, process flows, configuration workbooks, and end-user training materials.
  • Analysis and review of business requirements, definition, and delivery of technical coding strategies (declarative vs coding). This will include development of Lightning UIs and components on the Salesforce platform.
  • Contribute to design, development and support of integrations between platforms (e.g. Office 365, Oracle and Salesforce) that deliver best practice outcomes.
  • Implementation of requirements in the software development environment, including solution and functional architecture, testing and deployment steps into production.
  • Manage code repositories and test classes as required under the department's continuous integration processes, including the use of Bitbucket and Jenkins.
  • Support test planning and execution (SIT, UAT), working with testing teams and business users to ensure system quality and acceptance.
  • Work collaboratively with the Salesforce Application Support Team on technical issue resolution, and with project/business owners on small to medium Salesforce application development projects.

The Team

The position of Salesforce Technical Consultant will work within Information Technology & Workplace Services branch, which sits within Corporate Services group.

Information Technology & Workplace Services (IT&WS) branch oversees the delivery of ICT and Office Accommodation related investments and services to DJSIR. IT&WS branch engages with the organisation to ensure IT and Office Accommodation systems and services are appropriately designed, governed, and delivered. IT&WS branch offers a range of end-user focused systems and services to the organisation both directly and through third-party providers and provides governance and assurance for systems and services delivered by other groups and agencies.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated expertise in Salesforce multi-cloud environments, with hands-on experience in technical development, solution design, configuration, and customisation, including Apex, Visualforce, Aura Components, Lightning Web Components, JavaScript, and jQuery, delivered within an Agile development environment.
  • Ability to provide strategy recommendations for development (declarative vs coding), including provision of recommendations on technology approaches, security, apps and third-party tools that deliver best practice outcomes.
  • Proven capability in Salesforce technical delivery, including end-to-end development within the SDLC, integration of solution and functional architecture deliverables, and hands-on expertise with source control tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket), branching strategies, automated testing, and release management best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process and methodology development, and data mapping in an agile software environment within the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and produce clear, professional documentation (briefing notes, user requirements, training materials, etc.)
