  • Tenure: Fixed term (up to 2 years)

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Policy Manager to join a new, agile project team delivering a high-profile reform to Victoria's innovation ecosystem. Following the Victorian Government's announcement that LaunchVic and Breakthrough Victoria will be brought together into a single entity, this role will lead key policy and governance workstreams to support the establishment of the new organisation. The role requires critical analysis of data, assessment of risk, preparation of high-quality strategic advice and written products, and strong people management capability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Main Accountabilities

  • Develop policy frameworks aligned to defined organisational priorities
  • Identify and respond to new and emerging strategic issues impacting the operating environment
  • Develop briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for decision
  • Implement endorsed strategic policy within the functional area
  • Provide authoritative expert advice on complex issues within area of responsibility

The Team

The Policy Manager role sits in the Innovation and Commercialisation Review Project Management Office within Industry, Trade and Investment Group.

The Industry, Trade and Investment Group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. The Group supports priority industries, attracts investment, strengthens the digital ecosystem and promotes Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and innovation.

You are adaptable and forward-thinking, able to find new ways to deliver outcomes and build commitment to change. You communicate with impact, providing clear, well-targeted advice and written products to support senior decision-making. You also bring strong project delivery capability, engaging senior stakeholders and balancing competing priorities to deliver high-quality outcomes.
