Position Details

Senior Adviser

  • Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term role: 2 years
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Senior Adviser will provide high level strategic support and advice to the Deputy Secretary on a range of matters impacting the Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Community Sport and Outdoor Recreation portfolios.

Main accountabilities:

  • Makes decisions in situations where there is some, but not definitive, precedent about the application of an organisational framework 
  • Contributes to strategic business planning Interprets and applies business plans and policies in own area of responsibility and provides advice to others on implementation issues
  • Innovative thinking and analysis influences developments within area of responsibility
  • Initiates and maintains relationships with peer and senior internal and external stakeholders 

The Team

The position of Senior Adviser forms a part of the Office of the Deputy Secretary within the Sport and Experience Economy group.

The Sport and Experience Economy Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism and events and outdoor recreation – sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Takes into account wider business context within business unit when considering options to resolve issues.
  • Resilience: Keeps self and others calm when under pressure; Is decisive and charts course of actions enabling teams to resolve a challenging situation
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Reviews and analyses internal and external information to improve effectiveness and quality of work
