Position Details
Project Officer
- Salary: $81,496 - $98,955 (Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed term until 30 June 2027
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available)
The Role
This position works in a high-performing team to support the Local Jobs First Commissioner's advocacy, facilitation and compliance role by applying continuous improvement to strengthen processes, reporting and the accuracy of compliance activities under the Local Jobs First Act 2003.
The successful candidate will have experience with project delivery and is someone who can prioritise tasks, manage timelines and track measurable outcomes across projects. The Project Officer has excellent communications skills and possesses a can-do attitude while demonstrating resilience and flexibility if priorities shift.
Main accountabilities:
- Assesses client needs and delivers a range of services in complex situations;
- Initiates improvements to procedures within the work area
- Drafts public communication documents Communicates issues and advocates a preferred case or option to stakeholders
- Conducts projects of defined scope under direction
The Team
The position of Project Officer forms a part of the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment group.
This role is within the Local Jobs First Commissioner's office. The Local Jobs First Act commenced in August 2018 enshrining the Victorian Industry Participation Policy (VIPP) the Major Projects Skills Guarantee (MPSG) and established the role of the Local Jobs First Commissioner. The Commissioner's role is to advocate on behalf of Victorian small and medium enterprises, as well as promoting the employment of apprentices, trainees and cadets on government projects. The Commissioner also oversees compliance with local content and job commitments entered as part of the contractual arrangements for project delivery.
The role works closely with the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent (IDCMT) branch which is responsible for shaping and ensuring the delivery of the Victorian Government's industry development agenda. The branch develops policies and delivers programs that drive sustainable economic growth and workforce inclusion, leading to higher living standards for all Victorians.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Data Literacy: Considers data sources, collection and structure impacts in the delivery of data analysis. Generates descriptive statistics and relevant data visualisation leading to decisions under the guidance from subject matter experts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Takes steps to add value for the client or stakeholder; Links people with other areas as appropriate; Monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction; Constructively deals with stakeholder issues.
- Knowledge Management and Business Continuity: Implements and supports others to apply knowledge management and business continuity practices in day-to-day work.
- Project Delivery: Defines tasks to be delivered to meet agreed outcomes; Coordinates and guides others in the execution of work activities; Monitors progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required.
