About the branch

The Planning and Partnerships Division provides statewide directions, frameworks, standards and specialist services to plan for the future of parks, develop policies and procedures for park management and connect with the community and partners for learning, health, recreation and environmental and cultural benefits. It facilitates connection to Country for Traditional Owners, undertakes monitoring and evaluation of community use of parks and facilitates the conservation, presentation and appropriate use of historic heritage. The Division also facilitates national and international partnerships for organisational capacity building

About the role

The Community Activation Officer works within the Health and Community Activation branch of the Community Partnerships Directorate. The branch is responsible for health and community activation at the statewide level in three functional areas: education and interpretation; volunteering; and healthy communities, aligned with Parks Victoria's Healthy Parks Healthy People approach. The branch sets the strategic directions and standards, provides leadership, offers specialist technical advice to staff and partners, and coordinates monitoring, evaluation and reporting for health and community activation at the statewide level

 

To be successful for this role you need:

  • A formal qualification (diploma or degree) in environmental science, public health or community development or at least three years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of diverse and inclusive health and community activation programs, preferably in natural settings.
  • A solid understanding of community engagement and community partnership principles, aligned with the International Association for Public Participation (iap2) and National Standards for Volunteer Involvement
