Position Details

About the role:
Act as a lawyer in child protection, intervention order and family law proceedings at the Gippsland regional venues of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria, Children's Court of Victoria and Federal Circuit Court to effectively advocate for legal aid clients.

As an advocate and duty lawyer you will handle complex casework and appear in various courts and tribunals including the provision of outreach services at Morwell, Bairnsdale, Korumburra, LaTrobe Valley, Wonthaggi and Sale.

About you:
You will have substantial knowledge and experience in child protection, intervention order and family law matters. You will have extensive in-court advocacy experience, strong dispute resolution skills and proficiency in handling complex case work. Crucial to your success in this role will be your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective professional relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels. You will also demonstrate a willingness to uphold and promote Victoria Legal Aid's vision and values.
